The musical journey of the year! An inspiring, richly orchestrated story of faith, hope, and forgiveness that celebrates the divine nature of God’s children. Thrill to the powerful, soul-stirring score of this full-length musical. David King, sure of his faith and sure of his friends, faces the challenge of a lifetime when his older brother dies suddenly while serving a mission. Torn apart by the tragedy, David’s faith falters as bitterness and pride take over. The battle is real, the road rocky, but with the determined love and loyalty of his family and best friend, Wendy, David triumphs. You’ll laugh, cry, and rejoice as you share in The Quest, discovering that the joy is in the journey.

THE QUEST is a story of hope, faith and forgiveness in the face of adversity; a full-length

3 male children aged 2-5. 5-10 ensemble players. Simply suggested sets or full unit set.

    Synopsis
Jason and David King are not only brothers, they’re great friends who have both been raised in a gospel-centered home filled with love and laughter. Both boys are faithful and true to all they’ve been taught.

Karen Crawford and her daughter Wendy live next door to the Kings. Though they don’t share the King’s religion, they’re good friends. Life has brought heartbreaking adversity to Karen and Wendy who feel sadly disillusioned as they look to the future.

Sixteen year-old Wendy searches for happiness and meaning in her life, and turns to her best friend, David, for answers. With the help of the missionaries, he introduces her to the gospel of Jesus Christ and teaches her to recognize the Savior’s hand in her life. He tells her that she is a child of God and encourages her to search and pray for faith, reach for truth, and never give up on THE QUEST. By following her friend’s advice, Wendy gains a testimony of the Savior and discovers the hope and faith she is seeking. But when she attempts to share that new-found faith with Karen, her disillusioned mother replies, “I’m sure He (God) gave up on me long ago.”

Meanwhile, nineteen year-old Jason receives a call to serve a mission for the Church, and sixteen year-old David yearns to accompany his older brother into the mission field.

“Your time will come,” Jason says, urging David to be patient. “Just be sure that when it does, you’re ready.”

“Hey, I’m ready now!” David responds. “My testimony is rock solid, and nothing can ever change that. Nothing!”

Something does change that: Jason is struck and killed by a drunk driver while serving his mission and David, overwhelmed by sorrow and overcome by self-pity, spirals downward. “Now, what am I supposed to do?” he cries. “I’ve lost everything!” Abandoning his family, his friends and his faith, a vengeful David defiantly strikes out on his own. “If there truly is a heaven, and we’re not simply left to fate, where’s the justice for my brother? Where’s the mercy for my pain?” he sings.

David may abandon the Lord, but the Lord does not abandon David. He provides David with a family and friends whose undying loyalty and unconditional love eventually bring a repentant David to his knees, rejoicing in the sweet mercy that surrounds him.

Long ago David reached out to Wendy. In the end – or is it just the beginning? - Wendy is there for David, encouraging him to recognize the Savior’s hand in his life, reminding him that he is a child of God, and supporting him as he travels the road of faith, reaching for the truth, never giving up on THE QUEST.
